NEW PROJECTS at Sammy's Seafood
| New Prospects for Shrimp |
|
Sammy's Seafood owners have a history of education in the marine science field (masters in marine science and aquaculture) as well as having other family members in the field of marine scince. Cousin Kevin Fitzsimmons is a global sustainable professor at the University of Arizona's, Institute of the Environment. Kevin's research is directed primarily toward production techniques of tilapia and shrimp in the desert and in integrated systems. Multiple use of water for aquaculture and irrigated agriculture has been a focal point. Dr. Fitzsimmons' research and has led him around the world working with farmers on aquaculture. This unique opportunity to connect Dr. Fitzsimmons' work directly to Sammy's Seafood, while supporting a sustainable practice and product in the marine environment, is a tremendous full-circle opportunity for us at Sammy's Seafood. Below are a few examples of ventures we are pursuing in the shrimping industry to start.
